Ashwin Azer (legal name: Ashwin Ramesh; born March 5, 2003) is an Indian singer, songwriter, composer, and music producer. He is known for his work in contemporary R&B, hip-hop, and melodic rap music.[1][2] He also performs under the stage name Lucid ASH, which focuses on emotive, melodic soundscapes.[3]
He is the founder of Monadelta Productions, an artist-first music collective and distribution label founded in 2024.[4]
Early life and education
Ashwin Ramesh was born on March 5, 2003, in Kannur, Kerala, India.[5] He currently resides in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.
He attended DR.G.R. Damodaran School of Communication in Coimbatore from 2020 to 2023, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Visual Communication.[5]
Career
Early career (2019–2024)
Azer began his music career in 2019, exploring various creative roles alongside his studies.[1] He worked as an Assistant Director and Art Designer at Film Shades Creation in 2022, later becoming a Senior Video Editor and Creative Manager at The Photo Spot in 2023, and a Content Creator and Video Editor at Sirpi Aesthetics in 2024.[5]
In his early career, Azer experimented with unconventional music production techniques, describing his earliest musical memory as "using Premiere Pro as a DAW, a keypad mobile as a microphone, and cups and cartons as drums, layering together to make a song."[6]
Monadelta Productions (2024–present)
In 2024, Azer founded Monadelta Productions, an independent artist-first music collective based in India.[4] The label operates as a music distribution platform, offering artists unlimited music distribution for ₹369/year. Notable artists signed to the label include Wa'Cali, who serves as co-founder.[4]
Musical style and personas
Azer performs under two distinct artistic identities:
- Ashwin Azer – His primary persona, focusing on raw, explicit hip-hop music.[1]
- Lucid ASH – A melodic alter ego described as "the melodic shadow of the R&B world," exploring emotive soundscapes that "blend the boundaries between singing and rapping" and "capture the lucid moments between dreams and reality."[3]
He cites Juice Wrld (Death Race for Love) and Travis Scott (Rodeo and Utopia) as his primary musical influences.[6]
Azer is known for his rapid production style, notably producing "Molly BOY (Extended)" in 30 minutes, which he described as featuring "floating sidechain reverb that makes the song feel like world-class quality."[6]
Personal life
Azer was previously in a long-term relationship with Subithra Sundarraj (born September 2, 2004), a fashion model and social media influencer based in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu.[7][8] The relationship has since ended.[7]
